Many cars going by. Maybe was just unlucky but took a bit for me to find a ride. Still good spot―crazyrik

If you are traveling South outside of Santiago on Rout 5 (Pan American Highway) this is a perfect place as this is the entrance of the city. And it is very easy to get there - you just have to take mentro to Vespucio Norte, cross the big road and take the bus 305 (or better ask also at the bus driver if he is going there), take off before the huge intersection (aprox 7 minutes of the ride) and walk some 5 minutes to the spot. There is also a troll station, so the cars go slowly. It is really easy!―Anonymous

I think here is another option to get out of Santiago. Go to central bus station and take really cheap bus to Llaillay there is another peage post with less cars. There is more quiet and easier to catch a ride.―Dzeikobas

There is a Copec gas station here. We stayed here with a sign saying "El sur" and after one hour someone driving to Rancagua (70km south of Santiago) dropped us on another copec station on the highway number 5.―Anonymous

Suerte!―Anonymous

West towards Valparaiso, Viña del Mar. Petrobras service station. You can get here by bus J12 from Pajaritos metro station. Get off at Pasarela Pedro Jorquera. Walk a few hundred metres west along the motorway.―Anonymous

I hitched from here simply because it was close to my host. There is not a lot of space to pull over safely so this spot would not be good during heavy traffic.―Anonymous
